Monaco

Severine (1971)

Monaco was generally a second chance for French singers and songwriters to participate at Eurovision, and perhaps not unexpectedly they had a very solid record at the contest throughout their original participation, a pretty regular fixture in the top half of the scoreboard until they departed in 1980. They made a very ignominious return in 2004 and judging by their style of entry don't really seem to have grasped the cultural and political changes in the contest. In 2007 they withdrew again acknowledging they'd have an uphill battle given the state of the contest in the new millennium.
