1980s
Johnny Logan (Winner 1980 & 1987)

Ireland's domination of the Grand Prix was christened at the first contest of the decade. Johnny Logan sang two winners and Linda Martin was a strong runner-up. Germany found a winning formula of hands-in-the-air schlager that gave them by far their best period in the contest.  Israel fell back into the pack while both Yugoslavia and Norway made concrete progress.
